Photochromic Masterbatch

Photochromic masterbatch is a functional color masterbatch that undergoes reversible color changes upon exposure to ultraviolet light or sunlight.

Product Description

Photochromic masterbatch is a functional color masterbatch that undergoes reversible color changes upon exposure to ultraviolet or sunlight. Its key performance indicators are categorized into three main groups: photochromic performance, processing and physical properties, and stability and durability, which directly determine the color-changing effect, processability, and service life.

Performance Parameters:

Appearance: Cylindrical/elliptical cylindrical particles, colorless/light white (under light-protected conditions).

Particle size: 2.5–4.0 mm; no fines, no caking.

Microscopic: Colorant particle size ≤ 0.3–1 μm, no agglomeration.

Initial light transmittance: ≥88% (colorless state)

Haze: ≤3% (does not affect the transparency of the substrate)

Excitation spectrum: primarily responsive to 290–400 nm (UV-A / ultraviolet light).

Color-changing mode:

Colorless → Colored (mainstream): Colorless indoors or in the dark; reveals red, orange, yellow, blue, purple, or green under light.

Colored → Colored (dark to light / color change)
